This 1963 Boston Redevelopment Authority map identifies “blighted” areas designated for urban renewal. The Boston Redevelopment Authority’s vision encompassed a wide swath of the city, touching many thousands of people's lives.
As the “blight” map shows, entire neighborhoods disappeared. Novels and personal accounts reveal what those places meant to the people who grew up there and what life was like.
